I got back from Washington last night. I had a great time there. Not great like we did sightseeing or activities that were a blast. But I had a woderful time because I spent 3 full days with two sweet little grandkids. And I had them to myself most of that time.
I don't think anyone could disagree with me that those two were quite easy to take care of. Neither of them seemed sad to have me there without their mother. I know they missed her, but they accepted me as a perfectly good substitute.
Arvella has to be the easiest baby to tend. She eats, needs her pants changed, and takes naps very easily. And in between she is very independent and crawls around the floor vacuuming and testing to make sure everyone's shoes are clean for the next wearing. She spent zero time crying for no reason.
Ira is complete joy. He talks up a storm and can play at one thing for hours as long as you will "get on the floor with him". If you have something to do that isn't playing with him, then he is very content to sit on your lap for hours while you do "your thing". If you must clean or take care of Arvella, then he wants to "help". He loves books and will actually let you read the whole page before turning the page. I could spend hours reading to him. When his Dad came home at night he wanted nothing more than his Dad's complete attention, which he got. It warms my heart to see those two together. Now the only thing Ira and I had trouble with is that he loves to throw things. Anything, big or little, soft or hard. There could be little missles flying all over the room if you don't keep that in check. And the other thing is that he loves his sister way too physically. He loves to hug her like a football player loves to hug the football. He just couldn't understand that his hugs were a problem to anyone. Most people love them. What is up with Arvella. Can't she take a little love. But other than those two things, not a minutes trouble from him.
It is always good to be home, but I have to admit I miss those two. I am hoping to see them again soon. REALLY soon.
